THE COMPANY
“At night, the voice calls from within the ribcage until the animal answers. As if from very, very far away.
The animal digs and digs without interruption.
I dream: a very deep valley, but not dizzying,
impossible to see the end of from above, yet from the bottom a mist rises, it is white, it rises slowly, in languid coils.
Standing on the edge, I know that the mist is grace and knowledge; the mist knows, it knows for us. All I have to do is stand still and let myself be enveloped. Meanwhile, I smile.”
Chandra Candiani, from Questo immenso non sapere (“This Immense Not-Knowing”)
La Bruma is a contemporary dance company that distinguishes itself through a dramaturgy of the body in synergy with visual arts. It takes its name from the fog, which hides and reveals everything, inhabiting that space between the visible and the invisible, and enveloping things, blurring their edges. Our desire is to be a poetics that inhabits the 'borders' by dissolving them and creating dynamic, social, personal, professional, or artistic relations and interactions. The choreographic code is kaleidoscopic and includes techniques of decomposition and reassembly of reality. An invitation to change perspective and shift the center of gravity, to know the different and enter another dimension, inhabited by chimerical creatures. The peculiarity of our work lies in wanting to restore 'dimension' to the concept of dance as perpetual motion that involves all things and matter, exploring tradition and contemporaneity, social and environmental themes.
Foundational are the opportunities for intergenerational exchange, collaboration, and co-creation, between cultural and non-cultural ecosystems. We are indeed interested in inhabiting those apparently forgotten places, where the memory of the past seems to predominate over the present, where emptiness becomes a promise and space for the possible, embracing that wandering among spaces full of history and memory, whose ethical and aesthetic characteristics reflect contemporary social life, with its cracks and its poetry."
